The problem is that Hupit is seen as a site strictly for finding people to play CoD with rather than a community of gamers.
Check out my blog, it\'s suprisingly dull: welshboymick.wordpress.com

I see your forum post is using logic? Too bad you\'re on Hupit, where logic isn\'t accepted as a valid premiss to an argument.

I think that TmarTn made a mention of Hupit in his recent videos?

Heres a tip.

Seeing as everyone loves to promote there YT channels why don't we get everyone to upload a video about hupit on there channels. That way if everyone uploads on the same day word will get round and things will pick up. We've got the hupit gaming channel with like 30k subs and the hupit community channel with 2k. Combine all the other channels that people have on the forums and once again the hupit army will become known..

I actually think this is a good idea, everyone benefits, someone should promote this.

No one listens to me =(

I personally came here just to check out the site when woody first promoted it. I have never once found someone from the sharing gamertags portion of the site, and I have never made a thread asking if anyone wanted to play.

Any hupit person I have/had on my friends list was through the forms. I came here mostly for the forums to be totally honest,I liked getting/seeing peoples opinions on things as well as giving my own. You always tend to get to know people a lot better before you play with them if they are active and you see their posts all the time.

This is a "dead" period in terms of the COD life cycle. Happened for MW2 and BO as well 6-7 months into the game not many new things about the game are being learned or need to be discussed. Rant threads show up as usual. But the COD sections aren't exactly hot spots.

The other issue is when Woody does promote the site, He ends up promoting it with a video where he's rolling with Onslaught and a few other people just absolutely destroying the other team and people get this false hope of if they come to Hupit they will be able to build a team just like that and run through people. Then when they make a thread asking for team mates they always have some crazy standards to game with them (7 k/d 15 w/l ratio, drops MOABs in every game etc etc) Then anytime I get curious about someone with those standards(all while knowing they won't be much of a player themself) and I check their Elite stats they end up being people that as pub players we look for in a lobby to just destroy.

Even if you find someone on sharing gamertags(as that list does not delete old members or non active members) the chances of that person you sending a message to,are extremely small.

I've had 5-6 people try to add me from sharing gamertags(I've actually just made a random "-" as my gamertag because I don't want to add anyone) I have no stats what so ever in my profile yet I still randomly get messages.

I know for me I had a crew I played with in COD4 (the later stages) and it got a bit bigger in MW2(actually probably got 8 more players on my list) then it grew a bit more in BO. For the most part It's more comfortable playing with people you have conversations with rather then someone who legit only added you for COD and nothing else. A lot of the people on my friends list I've had on there for 2-3 years and we play various other games together.
-----------

I don't think the forums are dying anymore then they usually do around this time. Weve had some new people join who post a lot (Epic for example) and some other members who are no longer as frequent as they use to be and some of them have been banned. Hell even I took a solid month and a half off from these forums/gaming deleted the majority of my friends list and said fuck gaming.

I was totally drawn into the site from the forums as well, I was always looking for people to discuss Video games with as I had done so with Yu-Gi-Oh! before and looked to expand my knowledge with my interest in video games, I never honestly came here with the intention of playing with finding random people to play with, but through my interaction with people in the forums, I have found people that I have wanted to and have played with.

Yay I've become noticed =D

That truthfully hurt my head trying to comprehend the horrible writing there. But I will guess you were making some wild assumptive based on nothing....or you completely lack reading skills. Congratulations on making no sense but I will attempt to respond.

Let's check out your false statements;
-I play GTA Multiplayer and only single player games (False)
-I have a broken headset and couldn't talk to them anyways (False)
-"I don't give a fuck because I'm hardcore" (False)
-I don't play COD anymore (False)

So in essence your entire post was just false statements that you pulled out of your in an attempt to troll/ be funny, very interesting.

Actually sharing gamertags worked completely fine for me. I added maybe 4 or 5 people through that, but I got added by so many people in a relitvely short time span. Around 20 people added me. I was playing a lot with some dutch folks and most of them weren't actually Hupit members. I added basically one guy from Hupit who was from Holland and got 10 other guys through him that are not Hupit members.

I got a lot of people through Impetuous Panda as well.

Hupit is still a useful site to me even without experiencing it in its prime time.

I first heard about Hupit in one of WoodysGamertag's old videos (back in the Black Ops days when he used to advertise Hupitgaming.com at the end of each video).

I came here initially to find people to play with (the "Helping Unite Players Into Teams" kinda gives a hint of what this Website was made for . . .). However lately, I've discovered these forums and had some amusement from posting and responding to stuff.

I can't really speak for the activity in the forums, but from what I can tell, Hupit isn't in any way dying.

I can safely say that the whole gaming experience has been greatly improved by Hupit.
The only thing which really pisses me off, is when I get 12 year wanna-be-FaZe-Quickscopers adding me, asking to join the Hupit Elite Clan (HgEU) as if it's just another "sniping clan". Quite frankly, they can fuck off, Hupit is just a group of people who love playing games together . . .

Same here, posed on the forums one random day I was pissed off about Ghost campers in BLOPs (i was such a nub lol). I never used the sharing gamertags feature and have only really player with like 5 people on this forum (Derek and Glory come to mind). Are they dying? No, people just need to take a break from some things in their life. I know a lot of people on here take little hiatuses I do it too.

Re: Hupit is dying! 10 months, 3 weeks ago #715219

I didn't read all of Otter's wall of text, but I am in the same boat with his first few paragraphs. I joined for the forum, not for sharing gamertags. I've never been comfortable talking to someone that I have no prior knowledge or experience with. Just looking at someone's sharing gamertags profile like it is an eHarmony profile is deceptive because anyone can talk themselves up or make themselves seem cool.

Let's just pull a random name from this page as an example. Let's say g0ggy doesn't post in the forum and decides to send me a message through sharing gamertags. Well he likes to play like this, he is x years old, he is from this country and this region, and he expects this from his teammates. Well that is all fine and dandy, but I still know little about him. What are we going to talk about? I don't know what his hobbies are, or even his maturity level.

But when you post on the forums, you get a better idea of what they are like. You can tell what they are like based on what they post in and how they post. If I had a PS3 and only used sharing gamertags, I'm not sure I'd want to play with the Pandas and Gangstas of the forum. But since we all post in the forum, I at least have a better idea of what they are like and know it is possible that I could have a good time playing with them.

I think I only have 5 or 6 people added from Hupit, but they are all people that are/have been regular posters on the forum. But any time I play with them I know I will enjoy myself, which is the point of gaming. If this site changed its angle to work more as a community than a teaming-up dating website, it could see more traction. The members are doing what they can to help by doing these recent tournaments and having forum awards(where the fuck is my ribbon?) but the people joining often don't know what to expect.

I will only play with members that regularly post on the forum. I hope you understand, it is just less awkward that way.

I came because of Woody and sharing gamertags. Joined the clan soon after. Started on the forums after I saw there was a community here. Stayed for the banter.

The site may be dying a bit, but fortunately the people that remain are quite awesome.

Why take an easy 4 if you can put in some effort and get a 9?

For the basis of my behaviour and psychology, generally I am just like everyone else. That alone does not make me unoriginal. I am unlike anyone that has ever come before me, and I am the amalgamation of everyone I have ever met. I am the culmination of several events that have never been combined before. I am unique, in the exact same way as everyone else.

Yeah or go out of your way and find people. Send messages to others and don't expect them to come to you.

I originally joined this site to find XBL players when I got Xbox as a 2nd console, the site has so many members it's quite daunting. And after sending out numerous msgs and requests for players in my age range and location I think I got 1 add and the guy never played a game with me.
It would be easier for noobs here to find players if the admin deleted inactive accounts.

Also from a social aspect, smaller clan forums I use have mods that will give new members a quick low down and tell them to do an intro post. Which usually gets you a good response and breaks the Ice. Hupit feels very cold when you join and if you don't know any regulars, I don't know if it has to stay like this due to size. Or if it could be changed by clearing house and having more regulars take Mod duties.

Hupit is a great idea but seems poorly executed.
