TOPIC: Turtle Beach Surround Sound Or Not?

Turtle Beach Surround Sound Or Not? 1 year, 7 months ago #564356

Hello I have been looking at the Turtle Beaches because I might get one for Christmas and I am having a hard time deciding. I have a few questions:

1.)Is 7.1 surround make a big difference compared to amplified sound?

2.)My budget is $150 and I can only buy Turtle Beaches as I am 12 with no credit card and cannot use my parents. Which one is the best?

Thank you for your time.

Don't waste $150 just get the X12 they are fine and for $100 more the other headset won't give you any noticeable advantage.

So your saying that the 7.1 surround sound doesn't make a difference? And if I get the x12's will it last me long?

With a budget of 150 i would either get AX720's or AX720 Pro's. Pro's have real 5.1 surround sound, with 5 seperate speakers with in the headset, or the normal 720's which are 120 and have digital/fake 5.1 surround sound.
I log on once a week to check PM\\\'s. That is the extent of my hupitgaming. I HAVE left. I do not count checking my messages as still being apart of hupit.

If you want your name in my sig, PM me. The order i get the Pm`s is the order your name will be in the sig.

Astro A40's are the way to go.

Also, what are your parents doing? Call of Duty is a mature age game.

More speakers makes sense, but when they are so close together, I think most reasonable reviewers will say the same thing, it's hard to tell a difference between true surround sound of trittons and the digital surround sound of turtle beaches.

So that shouldn't be your concern, and if you go to comfort and durability, turtle beaches win in most reviews.

But, in comparing stereo to surround sound, I have been wondering the same thing myself.

I have the turtle beach x11's lasted me over a year now with no signs of wear and tear. Though I never rage, rip them, throw them, trip over wires, or anything. That kind of stuff will break any headset.

It's hard to find people comparing that who don't just say "no surround sound is definitely better". Finding someone who knows sound quality, compares both side by side, etc, is tough.

But really, surround sound in a headset, can't be amazing, it's only to speakers (even with trittons, it amounts to two speakers because of the close proximity. Though I do believe the sound would be of slightly higher quality, as the ear is a small and precise organ, could tell those differences, but still, only minor improvement.)

My opinion, save your money, we got enough things to buy in this world. With headsets, you can still assess someones location, just slight turns left and right, does the sound come more from the left cup or right cup, then you know.
It'll still be a great improvement from regular stereo tv sound.

I can't order anything because of the fright of losing credit cards and getting bankrupt. So my only choice is gamestop. I just need to know about the turtle beaches.

OH and mature doesn't mean I have to be 17 years old. I just have to be mature enough to not go and kill someone in real life .

I can't speak for the Turtle Beaches besides de X11's but the Astro A40's are awesome and pretty durable.

in that price range i would say to go with the Tritton Ax 720. simulated surround sound, great sound quality for right around $130. much better sound than any of the Turtle Beaches in the price range

I would be wary about buying a pair of Trittons, as I bought the AX 720s in August, and they broke on me within a month.

I've heard good things about the Turtle Beach X41s, so if you can afford them, you'll really want to consider getting those.

I have X11s myself, and they're ok, but I'd advise getting a better headset if you can afford it.
