I have a BT Homehub2 and despite an open nat on MW2 I had a strict nat on Black Ops. I tried everything to open it but got nowhere. I then found a video on the internet saying this below and couldn't believe it worked


1. reset router
2. put MW2 in got to multiplayer until you see the open nat type on left hand side half way down
3. remove Mw2
4. Put in Black Ops & it was Open

As said above I couldn't believe it but it honestly worked for me after months of trying to open my nat.

my NAT-type is only open when I reset my router just before playing, and did al the portforwarding stuff including running DMZ. pretty weird actually.

I've been hearing that you should also forward port 22728 UDP and 33233 UDP for Black Ops because it uses additional ports. Can anyone confirm this? I hear those ports just improve connection, But you don't need them to open your nat.

another way to do an open NAT is just run a DMZ on the IP to your xbox/ps3. This is the easiest route in my opinion.

can someone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give me a guide on a TALKTALK broadband? i have a D-LINK router and iv played on moderate all my life, lol ,i really would like/love it to be open

NAT 1 means you are hardwired to the PS3 NAT2 just means you are going through a router. Apparently putting your ps3 in the DMZ essentially opens all the ports. I dunno messing around with port forwarding can be tricky. Woody has a good guide but be careful.

I'm not sure if this will help anyone, but here's what I did to open my NAT on PS3. Forwarding ports alone didn't do the trick.

This worked for both my Actiontec M1000 and Q1000 routers.

1. Set up a static IP for my ps3
2. Set up a DMZ through my router
3. DISABLED Upnp on the ps3 only(not sure why this worked, but it's moderate with it enabled)
4. Did the MW2 trick

NAT has been open ever since(months). If my router is unplugged or reset, I have to do it all over again, but it's no big deal. Hope this helps. I'm not sure how common these routers are, but they're kind of a PITA.
