TOPIC: Help with Parents and Grand Theft Auto

Help with Parents and Grand Theft Auto 2 years, 5 months ago #240192

I have heard that GTA IV is a great game and would like to get it for christmas, but my parents believe it is inappropriate, I am 15, I have good grades, I am a three sport varsity athelete as a sophomore in high school. How can I convince my parents to let me own this game.

Um, you can't they either let you or they don't. My mom doesn't really couldn't give two shits. but it is a great game.

You can really only go behind their back and never show them that you got it. Obviously you'd have someone who could buy it, get it for you. However, you shouldn't get a game your parents won't let you get unless you know they won't find out.

I have to agree with him. Other than that I would suggest just asking them straight forward and try to make a deal by doing extra chores or promising straight A's or something like that in return for it. If that doesn't work just go buy it yourself, I was in the same boat except I was in middle school when GTA3 was the hip thing and I had to do the same thing since my parents wouldn't buy it for me.

But on the bright side of things, just be glad you still get your parents to buy you video games. My parents cut me off from supporting my video game habits since I was like 12. Ah, good times...selling my lunch to other kids for a couple bucks to save up to buy games.

Honestly My mom is cool. She'll let me buy whatever I want cause she knows its my money. Honestly if it is your money. Just go out and buy it without them.. If your trying to get your parents to pay for it. its a different story.

What do your grades and athletic achievements have to do with it?

It's a shite game IMO anyway.

buy it online. you can buy any game online without age restrictions AND the packaging obscures what the game actually is so if the parents recieve the mail, if they arent assholes, they shouldnt open your mail. do they watch you play the games or do you play in a public envirnoment in the house?

looking for a fairly good casual ps3 black ops clan on gamebattles. if you have a uk/ireland based team and looking for pretty decent teammate, i would love an invite

Not everyone has a card from which they can be charged off for things from the internet, especially a kid aged 15...

RDR is probably not as good as GTA.

You mean rating wise or gameplay?
If so yeah I know, but atleast RDR isn't in the media...yet.
Seriously, playing RDR is very easy to hide that you're just playing some cowboy game.
Hide the original box (or you can just burn it) and grab a cd-case and it just put it in there, they'll never know. And if they walk in your room are where you're playing just dashboard out.

yeah but i seriously doubt that his parents are keeping trak of what exact games he has. he can say "oh its only dante's inferno a game i already have" (im aware his parents are strict, the example was a joke ) and the parents will be none the wiser because if they ask to prove it he can go fetch the game and show it to her. thats ofcourse if they dont ask you to open the mail in front of them

To be honest there is no way to convince parents lol. They always have your interest at heart. So I suggest borrowing it from a friend or just get a different game like Fable <3

I understand why they think it's inappropriate, i mean: '' Hey dad, look at this, if i beat this hooker to death, i can get my money back!''

But anyway, try mind control, works every time.

Earn the money for it yourself then get your dad or mom to purchase it with your money. And if they say no after you've earned your own money then just get a friend to do it.

Get someone to send it to you, but have them ship the disk inside of some kids game case like Barney, Toy Story or something and your parents would never know the difference!

But honestly i think at 15 you're still old enough to play GTA, it's not like you aren't exposed to that kind of violence on TV already, or know what sex is, or know what gangs are.
