If they're made the same but just reskins, then it's a bit pointless. I guess you could have old model versions of your guns, but that's an awfully trivial thing to have as DLC.

Are they not one in the same?

Sort of, except camos require far less work and can be applied to all weapons. They also don't cause recognition issues which model revamps may.

They're the same basic idea, yes. I just think extra camos is a far more elegant and effective way of doing it.

I agree, camos would be much easier to implement, would likely require a lot less effort on he developers' end. Recognition errors could be addressed with an update/patch, I believe that was what Mortal Kombat did with DLC vs non-DLC (not 100% sure).

I guess something like model revamps would be better suited as a pre-order bonus, or part of one of the limited editions of the game.

Follow the rules.

When I said recognition issues I was being more literal. People picking up your gun and being like "WTF is this weapon?"

It could be one of those things that the playerbase comes to learn with time, but I understand that there would be a lot of confusion. I could imagine someone sh**ting themselves picking up a Thompson in a near-future game.

Well quite.

As you say, pre-order bonuses would make more sense. As in "preorder and get the CoD4 MP5" or whatever, which is just the same but it looks different.

As long as it's there from the start I think the community would learn to deal with it just fine.
