My buddy asked me this question and i loved it. Would you be ok if the maps in BO2 Release Maps were the best of the best maps from past cods, but reskinned?
Such as this:
Black ops returnees-Summit, Firing Range, Havana, Grid, Nuketown
MW2 Returnees- Scrapyard, Afgan, High Rise, Terminal
W@W returnee- didnt play it so give me 3 maps
CoD4- Crossfire, Overgrown, Crash
MW3-Mission, Seatown
Thats 17 maps, and we wouldnt run into the OMG these maps suck problem of mw3. The DLC could be all new maps.

I have no problem with this. They did it for mw2; old maps in new pack, an they were worth it. People complain about the maps all the time and the best way to solve this is have a Best of the Best Map pack release. Sure your paying for old maps, which you know will be good, but you just brought mw3 which is same but different as mw2

For release maps: Absolutely not. I want to see new maps designed for the game, for what the dev team are trying to accomplish (in particular their focus on the competitive aspect of the game).

As future DLC: Yes, but not 17 maps, only the best maps from W@W and Black Ops. such as Firing Range, Summit and Makin.

I agree with AlbinoGibbon.
BO2 will be different from all other cods (despite what people say lol) so release maps should be specifically designed accordingly to best suit the game's natural pace, playstyles etc. Plus, I like exploring new maps and would feel cheated out of that if I bought a new game without any.

That being said, I like the idea of having old maps introduced as a DLC (maybe free...?) Although I would only like a couple, and from W@W and Black Ops

Also, every map should be a winter map.

No, people have different opinions on the best maps anyway.

I hate small maps yet most people seem to love those the most.

Actually already been done in Black Ops, look at Hazard, then look at Cliffside from Cod 5, exactly the same map different skin.

@Keenano, to each his own. I feel they dont have a flow to them. Black Ops maps IMO are best in the entire CoD series, only bad map is crisis. Like i said to each his own

One or two classic maps are great, but not a new game based solely on them. A new game needs new maps, just from a gameplay element.

I agree with James, for release maps no because the game would get boring very quickly since there is nothing new to look for or understand about the maps. However if there was a Nostalgia Map Pack then i would love it!

it would be great to have grid, havana, nuketown, summit and firing range back in BO2.

Treyarch maps won't appear in IW releases. Vice versa with IW maps in Treyarch games. I personally don't like old maps in new games. I can just play the old games.

On topic: I wouldn't want old maps in the release of the game. As much as I love Summit, I'm not sure if I can play another Domination game on it where my team wins 200-30 and we all finish with more than 20 kills and under 10 deaths. That routine has played itself out for me. If they want to throw old maps in for free, I'm all for it. But only the best ones and for no charge. As others have said, the maps should be a reflection of the era of the game and I'm not sure how the old maps are going to fit the BO2 theme.

Every two months, they could have a poll on the Call of Duty website asking your favorite map from BO and w@w and the most popular would be added as a free dlc like Makin Day was in W@W. Ignore the first two months of the life cycle and the last two months, and that means they would only add 4 maps total (enough to show they care, but not so much that the game gets filled with old maps). Then IW could do the same with MW4 except use IW maps... Sounds like a good plan to me.
