I know most people say that K/D doesn't matter, myself included, but I recently tried getting the model 1887 gold, and my K/D went up. I went into the whole Model thing, heck this whole prestige, with the "I don't care about my stats" mentality, but when I noticed my stats went up, I was....happy?

So, you can read my sig. for my thoughts on stats in general, I'm just curious about what people think of THEIR K/D, not the K/D of others.

Oh so you've got the Model 1887 in gold? That must of taken a long time. Let me ask you a question, how many days do you have logged on your account? 5 days? 10? 15?

My Theory is that people value K/D for two main reasons. Firstly, to justify the amount of time they've spend on a video game. Think of it as revising (studying for you yanks), you put the hours in re-learning the information needed for you to achieve what you want out of the end product, which is in this case, the exam you'll be sitting. Now think of that same setting, but per game you play. An average game of domination is around 8-10 minutes, and you'll expect the effort you've put into that game to reflect on your end of game stats.

The second reason is a causation of the first, that people value their K/D as how good of a player they are and how well do they match up to others. You must have that kid on your friends list who will constantly complain about his K/D if it's bad, or boast about it if it's good.

Just something to ponder.

Eh. I like having a high K/D but I don't go to extremes to maintain it. I just play the game and if it happens it happens if it doesn't then oh well.

In this game, not the slightest. I don't find much of a skill-to-success correlation in this game, so my actual K/D ratio means very little. I try to worry about things on a game-to-game basis. Doing my best to win the game and put up a good ratio is my number one goal for each game. I'm not too worried about overall K/D and W/L ratios.

I play for K/D and W/L, i usually have no competition in the game and so K/D and other stats is all i play for, it's a measure of how good i can be (a lot will disagree with this) and i enjoy doing well since i'm a competitive bastard. I don't care what other people think and if stats where not public then i would still play the way i do now for my own self satisfaction.

I care about my K/D in the sense that I like to see how it changes over time. I like seeing how I progress as a player through both kills/time and K/D, but I don't care what my K/D is, and I don't play in a certain way to increase or maintain it. I like that it's high by most players' standards, but I would care for it the same if it was a 2.

i would care more about w/l but since its badly tracked theres just no point

And I don't care about KD, but I do like doing well. So indirectly it does end up rising as I try to do well most of the time I'm playing, but it's motivated by the fact i like doing well not because I want an e-peen enlarging number to increase so I can rub it in people's face.

I went 1- 211 in a TDM match by killing myself over and over again with C4. I had a full party and we all did it for shits and giggles. We had reactions of "you're an idiot" and "what was the point of that?" in the lobby after the match. We simply stated "it's a video game, we did it for fun". They all left.

Yes. I can add commentators when my KD gets good. I spent a lot of time playing CoD and I might as well be good at it. My KD on xbox is only a 3 but my w/l is still a 6 playing solo

are there any hupt tourneys going on for MW3? How can we organize them?

My K/D mattered until i tried to get 100 enemy caused deaths in a single game of Domination. I never succeeded, but my K/D dropped enough that it no longer matters. Coincidentally, I've had a lot more fun playing since then.

W/L has never mattered to me. I want to win my games for the reason that winning is something to work for. W/L doesn't matter because i play solo Domination which is quite difficult to win with a bad team. If i cared about W/L i would play infected.

(I do care about the stats in Cod4 though for the reason that they reflect my skill, I feel. There's rarely parties, very little camping, and people usually play the objective. In CoD4, I feel that stats are usually legitimate.)

Nah - nor the W/L stat. Simply cuz they're too easily inflated. Run in a party and stack killstreaks - insta 3+ k.d and easily a 5+ w/l.

MW2 5-7-9 or 5-7-11, Blops 8-9-11 - Too easy. In a 6 man party it was pretty much permanent Blackbird with Dogs/Chopper out 50% of the game. Naming no names but we had a guy who was a 1k/d average player who had a ridiculous w/l and respectable k.d just cuz he never played solo.

I HATED running into 3+ k.d guys in a party cuz you knew they'd dashboard out within the first 30 seconds...It's far to easy to rack up huge K.D games when the other team is being overran by killstreaks and being spawn trapped.
