I would like to know if the following speed is good enough to experience lagg while playing black ops.
Ping: 42 ms
Download: 8.31 Mbps
Upload: 0.68 Mbps

Is this bad? I used an cable from my modem to the PS3

You can have the best connection in the world, but you will occasionally get a bad host giving you bad connection.

Is it in every COD game or just black ops?

More so in Black Ops than IW games. Connection, let alone host, is as much of an advantage as headsets were in CoD4.

Any game. Here's the thing though, Black Ops is the most connection based CoD, so getting killed behind cover and whatnot is more easy to see.

My connection:
39 ping
Down .7 mbps
Up .16 mbps

It's not good, but I still get into a good connection game 4/5 times. I rarely run into 2 bar connection.

Depends, connection doesnt really matter unless you want to get host everygame, then try and get the best possible upload/ping you can possibly get from your ISP. But if you have an average connection that means you won't get host alot, so theres no need for a greater connection since other people generally get host.

I have terrible internet, but even on a 2 bar I can reach a blackbird, internet is just an excuse for why you're playing bad, it's just as bad as calling someone a try-hard

I use an ethernet cable too

I never get host and I live on the West coast of the United States.

I live in the UK, only search for Locale only matches and get host, I'd say about 95% if the time.

I used to have 10.5mbps down and 1.23mbps up, and used to get host then, maybe 80% of the time.
But I also have my xbox in a DMZ, so my NAT type is as open as it could be, which helps.

Just remembe to use a cable connection, not wireless.

download speed =1.09Mbps and
upload speed =0.87Mbps
and i check my speed from Ip-Details.com

i get host 85% of the time while on wireless

That connection better than most, you won't get host very often but it's good enough. Better than mine by far but not the best in the world.
