So i was wondering, is there a way, without overclocking, to increase processor speed in a laptop?
You see the thing is, my laptop is decent enough for playing games. I have looked at the specs required for a lot of games and i think my laptop could handle most, there's only one problem. My laptop only runs at 1.66GHz. It has been overclclocked already, i do not know what too as i just like dont know how to tell , so im just looking to increase processor speed.
As a last resort, is there a way to maybe replace the processor or whatever? I have an Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 if that helps?
Thanks.

Ummm, I don't think most manufacturers these days allow people to overclock (due to space and heating issues in laptops). Usually the BIOS locks down the frequency of the chip so it cannot be tampered with. Mind telling us the brand of laptop?

Might I ask which program you used to bypass the BIOS lock? And if you mean the CPU is running at 1.66Ghz AFTER YOU OC'ed, that is the speed the T5500 runs at.

I would highly suggest not overclocking a laptop due to heat constraints.

EDIT: I just looked up the T5500 for Sony Vaio and is the model number VGN-FE48E? Model numbers do help us out.

EDIT: And you'll also have to identify the Mobo that is in the laptop too in order to flash the BIOS.

I used MSI Afterburner
An yeah i understand that but i did it anyways cos im a rebel
Nahh mine's VGN-FE41E
I dno what model the Mobo is, i got a sticker on the laptop telling me the specs but it has nothing about the Mobo on it :/

... MSI Afterburner OC's the GPU in your laptop (Which is the Geforce Go 7400, almost 5 years old now, core speed of 450Mhz). This does not increase the overall "speed" of the laptop, it only increase the frequency rate of your GPU (and other various settings related). The Go 7000 generation is quite old and using the MSI Afterburner is like whipping a dead horse.

You are not able to overclock this model's CPU (T5500) due to the BIOS and Mobo that is in the VGN-FE41E. The only thing you overclocked was the GPU (which doesn't really help).

If you want a significant increase in speed, go get yourself a new computer, preferably a desktop and not a laptop.
