I toyed with starting a new topic for what I'm about to say, but since my comments here have to do with this topic, and since this forum is wholly unappreciated, I figured that I would speak my mind in this thread.
It's no secret that the spawns in Reach can be pretty goddamn terrible, not only in Slayer, but especially in SWAT. Speaking of Slayer, I get the sense that Bungie changed the Team Slayer spawns because of player disapproval, which is cool, but the new system isn't that great. Choosable spawn zones just make it easier for the enemy team to spawn camp, and it is virtually impossible to spawn on your teammates anyway. In SWAT, of course, I have ended up dying within seconds of my spawn.
The question becomes: how can this be remedied? Well, it is first of all unfortunate that there are some pretty crappy people on XBOX Live who will exploit anything and everything possible. We can't stop assholes from sitting in that elevator room on Sword Base and cycling between the Energy Sword and Shotgun while keeping their finger ready on left bumper just in case they have to use their Armor Lock. That's one thing, though: there are way too many power weapons on some of the maps in the game. However, when it comes to spawns, there are a few ideas I have in fixing them. I'm no game developer, and I'm perfectly aware that Bungie probably had to choose the lesser of many evils in determining the Reach spawns. But why can't we have an active spawn system like before? The problem is that spawning places way to much emphasis on where your team is, as opposed to where the enemy team is.
I get that Bungie wants players in the action, but the maps in Reach really aren't that big (and my complaint has to do with the smaller maps, anyway). I would much rather run for a few seconds to find the enemy than spawn and die.
Yes, I know that this post was really long, but I had a lot to say.
